Swine Plastic Flooring

Double L has a variety of hog nursery and sow slats to fit your plastic slat flooring needs. Each slat is constructed of rugged virgin polypropylene that is non-conductive, reducing chilling and stress on your pigs. Younger pigs require a warmer and cleaner floor than do older pigs. This is because younger pigs have a less-developed immune system and require warmer temperatures. Younger pigs are more easily chilled and more susceptible to disease.

Swine flooring should be designed, constructed, and maintained so as not to cause injury or suffering to pigs standing on it. The objective of flooring is to provide a durable, comfortable surface with good traction. Flooring must be suitable for the size and weight of pigs and must form a rigid, even, and stable surface. Manure and urine should easily filter through the slat slots to maintain cleanliness. Flooring that is easy to clean increases labor productivity and reduces transmission of diseases.

Manufactured from virgin plastic polypropylene, Filter-Eeze plastic flooring has several advantages over traditional metal type floors. One advantage is that polypropylene last longer than metal which is very labor intensive when replacing it with new. Another feature is that plastic is thermal conductive as compared to any of type of metal flooring; therefore small pigs have a more comfortable environment. Another advantage is that the cost of maintaining comfortable flooring temperature for the pigs is greatly reduced as energy requirements are significantly less.

Double L has three Filter-Eeze Nursery / Grower Floors available in 24″ x 24″ size with different tiered pig weight options. The new Premier Nursery Floor has a bright lime green color for easy scour detection. The Advantage Nursery Floor has a 1/4″ gap perimeter that is easy to power wash clean. Excelerator Nursery Floor is a high impact virgin polypropylene slat.
